Opened in 2010, Tau Village is based in the hub and heart of the city at 279 Struben Street in the City Centre. It is surrounded by retail stores and Bloed Street Mall and close to the government departments and National Library. It is also on one of the main transport routes. The socially inclusive village boasts 109 units that include a new site for Lerato House, which homes 20 young at-risk women and a home for eight elderly people, a creche for 24 children, shops, two units for people with disabilities and 79 self contained units.
