The first building to be purchased and managed by Yeast City Housing in 2000. Litakoemie is located at 287 Visagie Street and was originally managed by Pretoria Community Ministries, as it was known then. When they took over the building in 1993 it was only 30% occupied and all its residents were white. Within one month the building was fully occupied with a healthy racial mix of tenants. It gave hope for reconciliation as people found ways to live together well and creatively. In 2000 Yeast City Housing was granted housing subsidies and with help form Bread of the World, was able to secure and upgrade this property for the future.
